Creator and Host of Bruce Lee Eve and caretaker of one of the world's largest Bruce Lee collections
by Darin Waugh
Robert Blakeman passed away on July 11, 2001.
Bruce Lee Eve has ended. The world has lost one of it's greatest Bruce Lee fans.
Robert began Bruce Lee Eve in 1983 at his home. As Robert explains in the Bruce Lee Eve, Over The Video, he realized in 1983 that it had been ten years since Bruce's death, and that Bruce seemed to be forgotten in the media. That's why he started Bruce Lee Eve. He moved it to public venues in 1986. The event always included the showing of Robert's collection, martial arts demonstrations and screenings of Bruce Lee movies. The events also included special guests such as Larry Hartsell and George Dillman. See the photo gallery for more pictures.
I had the privilege of meeting Robert in 1985. I helped him with many of the Bruce Lee Eve's and was the Editor of the A.B.L.E. (Associates of Bruce Lee Eve) newsletter. I miss you my friend! Darin Waugh (left) with Robert Blakeman during the filming of Bruce Lee Eve, Over The Years.
The Collection
Robert's collection is one of the largest in the world. It contains items from all over the world, and is complete in scope, everything from Bruce Lee key chains to a hand written letter by Bruce to a Green Hornet fan (signed by Bruce both in english and Chinese - making this even more rare). The collection contains over 1250 items.
